Designing fabric art fulfills my need to
create beautiful things. I have tried
other media such as paint, glass, clay and wool, but I have always remained
anchored to my first love – fabric.
Each time I find a piece of fabric that
inspires me, I can’t wait to get started.
Ideas and pictures flood my thoughts.
The colours, designs and textures inspire and excite me as no other
medium does. The bolder and brighter,
the better.
Most of the time the designs come from the
fabrics themselves. Using the original
patterns within the fabrics, I rearrange and sew them together to create an
entirely new design.
Some designs are used as backgrounds with
additional appliqué, bead and thread work, and some designs become complete
within themselves. The fabrics determine
the outcome of the design.
Floral fabrics speak to me about the beauty of nature while seasonal fabrics remind me of the joys of family and friends. I try to bring this beauty and joy to each of my designs.
My current work is a mix of mounted fabric art, small quilting projects, and painting on silk.
I accept commissions, depending on the needs of the client.
