I spend some time with my grandsons on Sunday and dragged them into a quilt shop with promises of a quilt each. Devon has chosen a black and white rag quilt and Ryan wants a tartan quilt. He has chosen the PEI tartan and it will have a lovely flannel backing.
I've worked it out, and to get all of my projects done between now and November, and then Christmas, I will have to work on projects at least 4 hours every day. And then there is my gardening. And curling. And working at ArtScene Spencerville. And oh! yes - spend time with my husband. Perhaps I should give up sleeping..

Shirkan
For those of you who also follow my work on Facebook, you know about Shirkan - the tiger from the Jungle Book. I've always been a fan of Kipling, and when I saw this wonderful tiger on a fabric panel, I decided to make him. It has proven more difficult than expected, but I have now designed the piece and have done a trial layout.
It will have a great deal of green - as it is a jungle piece, and Shirkan's face will be peaking out through some palm fronds.
I'm really looking forward to working on him.

Scarlett Elegance
"Scarlett Elegance"
(24" x 24")
$350
I was telling a friend of mine about this piece, and went to the blog to show it to her, only to find that I had forgotten to post it.
I started this piece in 2011, and cut it out, before I decided on the background. I tried several fabrics and colours, and finally had to back off to a plain black fabric with a thin ribbon border in gold and black.
The background fabric has been brushed and rubbed so that the fabric appears to be velvet instead of cotton. This gives it a depth that you would not get from regular cotton.
